24 Sep Cherries Jubilee Day

National Cherries Jubilee Day is here and we are highlighting our live action cherries jubilee crepe station! But before we get to the yummy pictures...

A Brief History of Cherries Jubilee

Cherries jubilee is a dessert that consists of cherries in a sauce, usually a simple syrup, flambéed in some kind of liquor (typically brandy, or kirschwasser). It is served as a dessert topping, usually on ice cream (or our favorite: atop warm, freshly made crepes). Cherries jubilee is generally credited as being created by chef Georges-Auguste Escoffier for Queen Victoria's Jubilee celebrations in the late 19th century - hence the name!

21 Sep What Caterers and Event Planners Can Learn from Disneyland

Our Marketing Director, Katie Sanchez, recently took a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth! While there, she kept an eye open at what tips caterers and event planners could learn from the entertainment giant. Here's Katie: "I've been visiting Disneyland almost yearly since I was 4. I am no stranger to the magic, attractions, and treats the park has to offer. However, beyond the shiny castle and your favorite characters roaming the grounds, Disneyland is a major operation to carry out every single day of the year; an organism that must run smoothly and quickly to keep on top of the show. With an average of 16 million guests per year, Disneyland has the large task of feeding - and appealing to the senses - of all these guests! My most recent trip to Disneyland with my mom and dad.[/caption] So what can caterers and event planners learn or adopt from Disney when it comes to feeding and appealing to guests? Disneyland, and Disney in general, is a brand with a die-hard loyal following. How can you as a caterer or event planner, infuse the same wow-factor into your events and make your guests loyal to your company?

31 Jul Gourmet Small Plates by LeCroissant Catering & Events

We had a fun and savory tasting session yesterday for a new client featuring a bunch of new small plates we created to add to our menus! The evening began with the traditional meat and cheese board but filled with local Utah spirit - our cured meats came exclusively from Creminelli's Fine Meats and included prosciutto and two different kinds of salami. Our cheeses were also all locally sourced and included our own signature flavor, Black Pepper Chive, created in conjunction with Heber Valley Cheese (keep your eyes peeled for a future blog post featuring our newest cheese flavor made exclusively for LeCroissant Catering & Events!) as well as Barely Buzzed  from Beehive Cheese. Our meat and cheese assortment was served alongside our fantastic focaccia bread, baked in-house in our bakery, as well as bruschetta, and house-made hummus with freshly baked pita bread! Lastly, our guests also enjoyed caprese salad skewers with fresh, thickly-sliced mozzarella cheese and drizzled in balsamic vinaigrette. 23 Jul Celebrate National Hot Dog Day with Gourmet Hot Dogs!

It's National Hot Dog Day and we couldn't help but think more about that American staple, the quintessential summer menu item - the hot dog! Culturally imported from Germany to early America, the hot dog was sold as fast and cheap working class lunches off street carts in large cities. Over time, the simple yet yummy treat became associated with summer, baseball and Americana. There is no definitive knowledge of how the hot dog got it's silly name; many instances of the word duo referencing this form of sausage consumption can be found in publications dating back to the late 19th century. As the hot dog spread across the country, variations invariably sprung up to match the unique flavor demands of each region. How many hot dog varieties can you think of for each part of America?

03 Jul My Mom’s Potato Salad

With July 4th this weekend, we are at the height of summer. I am in heaven! While the 90+ degree days can wear you out, there is always a general eagerness for a delicious barbecue with your family and friends. Whenever I go to a barbecue at my parent's house I always have one request... Will mom be making potato salad? I am in love with this potato salad and I recently asked her for the recipe so I could share it with all of you! This potato salad is to die for! In essence: burly and rich from olive oil and mayonnaise, and brisk from pickles. If you forgo the hard boiled egg you don’t know up from down. Prepare it a day ahead for it's at its best when well-chilled and left to meld. Even better, it's easy to make! I’d walk you through it, but you know how to make this: Boil the potatoes; toss; mix; do as you do. Potato salad’s beauty is not in its technique. You’d be smart to make it for the Fourth, and every week thereafter, until the temperatures drop and the sun shines shorter. Always make extra -- you’ll want the leftovers -- and then spend the rest of the day outside. A note from mom: "enjoy!"

Today is International Picnic Day and we celebrated by making over 600 boxed lunches!   Our boxed lunches include a gourmet sandwich, kettle chips, a pickle spear and a sweet treat made fresh in our bakery. We've updated our lunch and To Go menus with new sandwich and salad options - take a look! Shout out to the LeCroissant team for putting together such an order so quickly and smoothly! We hope our clients enjoy their lunches in traditional picnic style: outside on the grass in the beautiful Utah sunshine! With all this sandwich making, we got to thinking that summer is just around the corner. With the first day of summer falling on Father's Day this Sunday (Happy early Father's Day dads!), our minds were led to BBQs! With bright, sunny weather in our forecast and a reason to get together with the family, we imagine plenty of barbecues will be happening this weekend.
